A critical element of any successful Girls Hockey program is a strong network of volunteers. The DSE Girls recruit talented hockey players locally but across North America as well. In order to take advantage of this great opportunity and chase their hockey dreams, the players need families willing to share their homes and become a “Home Away from Home” for them.
Our girls needing billet families range in age from 14 to 17, will be attending High School while they live in our community, and represent our team while pursuing their hockey dreams.
These relationships will often carry on for years after the player has graduated from the team. For those with younger children, this is a great opportunity to get an older girl in the house your children can look up to. We are confident the players will be great role models for younger children in the billet home and for Team.
To cover expenses, billet families are paid once a month. Some families have found it easier to house two players as they can travel together and provide company for each other.
Billet families can be two parent families, single parent families and “empty-nesters”. All that is required is the willingness to provide a “Home Away from Home” for a player that has made the commitment to pursue the dream of furthering her hockey career.
